Whats the Best Career for Working at Home
June 16, 2009
I’m often asked by people what the best choice is for a career in which you can work from home. I think most people would think high tech. Of course, because I’m involved in it, I’m probably biased toward internet marketing. While even that career area is struggling a bit in this economy, it’s probably not as bad as many other choices you could make. And, within internet marketing, to me the logical choice is becoming a professional blogger – especially for anyone with writing skills/experience.
While there are some exceptions for corporate bloggers that you work on site, for the most part blogging is a profession that’s relatively easy to get into, relatively easy to learn, and can be fun and rewarding as well. While you may need to cut your teeth at first on low-paying gigs, it’s certainly a profession you can start part time from home. As you get better known and establish credibility within the blogosphere, your rates will increase.
The other beauty of blogging is that because it is so easy to do from home, you are setting yourself up with the ability to live anywhere you want to. And that’s a great position to be in. I should clarify that you can work anywhere AS LONG as you have decent internet access.
Most countried, even third world countries, have decent internet access. When I went to Cuba I found that there are not internet cafes or any other places where one can just go online. Their government doesn’t like the idea of Cubans getting news from around the world. Therefore, it is also difficult to get calling cards to call home while visiting Cuba. When I was in the Philippines I noticed their internet service is good, but they lose power at certain times of the day.
